In Rainier Beach, the Tubman Center for Health & Freedom has turned soil on the future site of the Tubman Health Center: a patient-centered medical home and gathering space designed by and for marginalized community members across the region.
Named after Ms. Harriet Tubman—abolitionist, liberator, and nurse—Tubman Health has grown from a vision into a proven model of care. We have opened two clinics, launched the Community Health Research Institute, served thousands, and raised $34 million toward our $42 million project goal.

The Tubman Center for Health & Freedom was founded in 2020 by six Black, Native, and queer community trailblazers to create a new healthcare system by and for community.
Tubman Health addresses health and wellness from both systemic and clinical approaches. By practicing medicine from the intersection of health and freedom, we address both the health of our patients and the factors that determine their health.
